Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let a site remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how visitors use the site. This policy explains how Inter-College uses cookies on our marketing website (inter-college.com), our school portal, and the school websites we host, and how you can control them.

2. Cookies We Use

  • Sign-in storage (not a cookie): When you log in to the school portal, your session tokens are held in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie, and the parent app keeps them in the app's own storage on your device. They are what keep you signed in as you move between pages. Clearing your browser storage signs you out. Django's own session and CSRF cookies are set only on our administrative back office, not on the portal you use.
  • Preference storage: Your selected theme and, for a parent with more than one child, the child you last had selected are kept in the same browser or device storage so you do not have to set them again on every visit.
  • Analytics cookies: Our marketing website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are visited, how visitors found us, and general usage trends. These cookies do not identify you personally and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking by us.

3. No Third-Party Ad Tracking

Inter-College does not use third-party advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not sell or share cookie data with ad networks. The only third-party cookie service in use on our own properties is Google Analytics, described above, which we use strictly for product and marketing analytics.

4. Cookies on School Websites

Every school on Inter-College gets a public website built with our website builder. These school websites do not currently set any analytics or advertising cookies at all. There is a field in a school's settings for a Google Analytics tracking ID, but nothing on the published site reads it yet, so entering one has no effect and no analytics cookies are placed. If we wire that field up in future, we will update this policy first, and the school entering the ID would be the data controller for its own site's analytics.

5. How Long Cookies Last

  • Sign-in tokens expire on their own — the short-lived token within hours, the one that renews it within 30 days — and are cleared when you log out.
  • Preference storage persists until you clear your browser or app storage.
  • Analytics cookies on this marketing site follow Google Analytics' standard expiry windows, generally up to 2 years unless cleared sooner.

6. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies through their settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
  • Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.

Blocking or clearing your browser's site storage will sign you out of the school portal. Blocking analytics cookies has no effect on your ability to use any Inter-College product.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our products or the cookies we use change. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
